Undefeated Jersey Blues Win Region XIX Title

The Brookdale Jersey Blues men’s basketball team claimed Region XIX supremacy on March 4, defeating Cumberland County College 70-62 in the final round of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Regional Tournament in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

The win, which will send the Blues to the NJCAA National Championship tournament in New York on March 15, preserved the squad’s undefeated season and extended their 2017-18 win streak to 31 games.

Sophomore guard/forward Grant Goode, who posted 25 points, 11 rebounds and five steals in the Region XIX Championship game, was named tournament MVP, while head coach Paul Cisek was named Region XIX Coach of the Year.

Sophomore guard/forwards Zachary Olukanni and Jaimik Moore also scored double-digit points in the win, while freshman guard Tarique Holmes contributed eight points and eight rebounds.

The Blues, who finished the 2017-18 season with a 31-0 overall record and a 23-0 conference record, will compete in the NJCAA National Championship Tournament at SUNY Sullivan in Loch Sheldrake, New York, from March 15-17.
