Brookdale students gathered at the Warner Student Life Center on Feb. 10 for this month’s Laugh at Lunch event featuring comedian Adam Mamawala.
Mamawala is a 25-year-old comedian who has traveled to over 100 college campuses across the country, taking first place in 2007’s NJ Comedy Festival. That win has allowed Mamawala a wealth of new opportunities, including opening for comedian Joel McHale and guest starring on MTV’s “Girl Code.”
The house was filled with laughter as Mamawala openly shared experiences from his life, weighing in on everything from relationships to college life to racism.
“You can’t take life so serious,” he said.
Sharing Mamawala’s light attitude on life was Brookdale student and aspiring comedian Kevin Revis, who made sure to sit in the front row in hopes of being the butt of a joke.
“If you can’t laugh at yourself, then who can you laugh at?” he said.
Laugh at Lunch is organized by Student Life and Activities (SLA) and is held monthly in the Navasink rooms of the Student Life Center. Free refreshments and lunch are provided, giving students an enjoyable mid-day break from classes.
