Student-Produced Play to Open at PAC

All Brookdalians are invited to a special sneak preview of the student-produced play “Not With Haste,” beginning at 6 p.m. on May 21 in the Performing Arts Center’s Black Box Theater.

The play – a stirring romantic comedy that follows a young college graduate in pursuit of love – is written, produced and performed by NJ Coastal Communiversity student Stephen Dobbins and the Stormin’ Arts Players, a group founded by Dobbins and featuring a number of Brookdale students and alumni.

“Not With Haste” will be featured in New York City this July as part of the annual Thespis Theater Festival.

The Thursday night dress rehearsal is open to all Brookdale community members. The play will open to the general public on Friday, May 22nd at 7 p.m. in the Black Box, with an outdoor pre-show titled “Today’s Tomorrows” held on the Great Lawn.

The pre-show will feature a collection of song poetry and a viewing of “Proper Etiquette,” a one-act play by Stephens that will be showcased as part of the Manhattan Theater Repertory’s one-act summer festival in June. Artwork by Brookdale alumni and Gina Ziegler will also be on display.

Brookdale alumni Audra Mariel will then present a vocal performance beginning at 6:30 p.m.
