Brookdale’s Student Nurses Association (SNA) volunteered with the Medical Reserve Corps at the New Jersey Marathon, in Long Branch on May 5. The dedicated group arrived at their “Hydration Station” at 5am ready to supply runners with water and Gatorade. The SNA decided to volunteer for the marathon because “we believe in helping and supporting the community. The heart of nursing is caring and the SNA wanted to let the runners know that we care and support them. While the runners were zooming by us, they still made a point to thank us! It was an amazing feeling being appreciated for such a small gesture. It really put in perspective of how volunteering can bring a community and our club together,” said SNA president Lindsey Smith.
