For more than two decades, Brookdale’s Auto Tech program has been the go to place for individuals interested in pursuing careers as auto technicians. Students hone their automotive diagnostic and repair skills, gain hands-on training and, in the most popular track, earn an associate’s degree.
Employers value Brookdale’s highly-skilled auto tech graduates as workers who can step in and contribute to their business needs immediately. The latest example of that recognition is a memorandum of understanding with Ray Catena Auto Group whose luxury dealerships span 23 locations throughout the state.
Under the agreement, Auto Tech students who successfully complete their studies, an internship and who are offered employment by Ray Catena, are eligible for reimbursement of their tuition and tool expenses totaling nearly $16,000 from Ray Catena. They are also eligible for longevity employment bonuses up to $12,000.
“We have hired many Brookdale graduates over the years, and the quality of their training and preparation is obvious.”
-Christopher Gioffre, service director for Ray Catena’s New Jersey dealerships
“It’s important for us to ensure that we have the best skilled auto technicians,” said Christopher Gioffre, service director for Ray Catena’s New Jersey dealerships. “We have hired many Brookdale graduates over the years, and the quality of their training and preparation is obvious,” said Gioffre. “We’re looking to build on our foundation and develop a long-term relationship.”
Gioffre estimates that Ray Catena will offer two internships per year at its dealerships for a total of 46. More than 30 Brookdale graduates currently work at locations in Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
“Given Ray Catena’s reputation and presence throughout the state, we anticipate a lot of interest in this program and career pathway.”
