The 3D Digital Animation Student Show took place at the Center for Visual Arts (CVA) Gallery April 18-19 and displayed an impressive range of student works.

At the show’s reception, Claire Smuga, associate professor of digital animation, explained the gallery highlighted the capstone projects of the students who majored in digital animation and 3D design.

“Once I learned the basics, it was a lot of fun to see my work come to life,” said Gabrielle Jordan, who will graduate with her AAS in digital animation and 3D design this May.

“It was a really exciting experience to finally figure out what I wanted to do and to harness my talent,” said Alyssa Ciricillo, who will also graduate in May.

Students focused on careers in design will have another option to consider in a field expected to sustain continued growth – Game Design. With the new degree offering at Brookdale for the 2019-2020 academic year, students will gain the basics of creating 3D assets and animation for game design and interactivity, paving the way for further study in game coding.

With the new Design option, students will also take several related courses, including: Programming I and II, Drawing I and an introduction to 3D modeling course. Smuga and her colleagues have developed four new courses specifically for the Design degree option.
