The Brookdale Community College Foundation’s 40th Annual Education Open Golf Outing will take place on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Eagle Oaks Golf & Country Club in Farmingdale, NJ. The event benefits the Foundation’s “Invest in Student Success” scholarship fund. The fund provided more than $800,000 in scholarships and grants to support student success during the 2018-2019 academic year.
“With these scholarships and grants, many students earn their associates degrees at Brookdale, transfer to four-year institutions to achieve their undergraduate degrees or start their careers after completing a certificate program at Brookdale,” said Timothy Zeiss, executive director of the Brookdale Foundation. “Our supporters, donors and sponsors are helping hundreds of students to achieve their academic and professional goals.”
The all-day outing includes a buffet brunch starting at 10:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 11:30 a.m. After completing their rounds on the course, guests enjoy a cocktail reception and awards dinner starting at 6 p.m. Golfers may win individual and team prizes, including two hole-in-one contests to win a lease on a new Infiniti donated by Circle Infiniti in West Long Branch and a two-year lease on a Cadillac donated by Gold Coast Cadillac of Oakhurst. The evening will feature awards presentations for individuals and teams, including special prizes for closest to the pin and longest drive, as well as blind skins games, a 50/50 cash raffle and silent and live auctions, among other activities.
The Awards Dinner Honorees are John O’Malley and Dave Kinsel, founders of Avon Pond. The organization serves the Shore area and surrounding communities by providing ice skating and pond hockey programs for youth. Avon Pond also supports numerous charitable organizations such as the Wounded Warrior Project and sponsors many events throughout the year. O’Malley received the Emile Francis Award from the New York Rangers for his support of youth hockey. Some former and current National Hockey League players are scheduled to attend.
In celebration of the outings 40th anniversary, the Brookdale Foundation is staging a Helicopter Golf Ball Drop raffle before the awards dinner with up to 400 golf balls/tickets will be sold. The person with the golf ball landing in the hole or closest to the pin wins half of the proceeds. Winner need not be present.
