Nursing Graduates Honored at Pinning Ceremony

Brookdale Community College honored the 2013 Nursing graduates at the College’s annual Nursing Pinning Ceremony on May 20.

Dr. Maureen Murphy, President of Brookdale, offered her congratulations to the Nursing graduates, and thanked family members and friends for their continued support.

Dr. Jayne Edman, Dean of Science and Health Science, touchingly reminded the graduates that their journey in higher education was not accomplished alone.

“Through this, you have had the support of family and friends. You also expanded that network by getting to know each of your classmates, forming study groups, and by ultimately creating a family. You have come to depend upon each other, and many of those relationships will continue for many more years to come,” said Edman. “You will continue to need each other as you prep for the licensing exam, start new jobs, and further your education.”

Gloria Valderrama-Boudreau, Nursing graduate, specifically thanked Dean Edman, Mary Ehret, Director of Nursing, and the Nursing faculty and staff for their unflagging support.

“Thank you for the opportunities that you have given us to learn and grow in our profession, for the direction in which you have taken the Nursing Program, and for meeting the challenges and demands that will produce an even greater experience for nursing students to come,” said Valderrama-Boudreau. “Words cannot express our gratitude for all that you have shared.  You have imparted upon us your guidance, patience, and expertise.  And because of you, we have gained a knowledge that was far beyond our wildest imagination. You instilled in us the skills and desire needed to be exceptional nurses.”
