More than 40 top scorers who advanced through a series of on-line testing modules over the last six months competed in the second New Jersey Governor’s Cyber Aces State Championship held March 22 at Brookdale. The top 25 finishers earned the chance to be interviewed for acceptance into the prestigious New Jersey Cyber Aces Academy at Brookdale.
Similar to last year, competitors engaged in NetWars, a hands-on interactive learning environment used by the U.S. Military, government agencies and commercial companies to evaluate and train their people. This year, the 12 members of the inaugural academy cohort, who were selected after last year’s competition, were on hand to answer questions.
The academy recruiting and training program, the first of its kind in the country, began at Brookdale in the fall of 2012 in response to a national demand for well-trained individuals with significant hands-on cybersecurity skills. During the past year, the program has become a national model.
