For students in need of extra help with math-related coursework, the Brookdale Math Lab has long been a resource that Brookdalians can count on.
On Oct. 8, the college community was treated to a festive reminder of that fact during the center’s annual Math Lab Day celebration, held on the second floor of the MAS building.
Featuring coffee, donuts and a number of math-related prize raffles, Math Lab Day also helps familiarize students with the Math Lab’s wide range of services and amenities.
Serving upwards of 200 students per day, the Math Lab’s dedicated tutors, students workers and volunteer staff can assist with nearly every math-related subject a student may encounter, said associate math professor Olga Malpica Proctor.
“We are able to provide help with just about anything,” she said. “Physics, accounting – you name it. It’s much more than just basic math. That’s what we are telling students today. If you have a question or need assistance, come and see us.”
The Math Lab also offers more than just one-on-one support. Students enrolled in a math-related course can take advantage of the center’s fully equipped computer lab, dedicated study areas, textbooks, calculators and other classroom materials.
“It’s really like a one-stop-shop,” Malpica Proctor said. “We have it all in one place.”
