The Art Alliance of Monmouth County has opened their 2015 season with an exhibition of work by Brookdale faculty members and their colleagues at Monmouth University. The exhibit, curated by painter and Brookdale associate English Professor Colleen Lineberry, features 34 pieces by nearly 20 artists, representing a broad spectrum of mediums, styles and influences.
“It is a fabulous show. It’s very impressive,” said Art Alliance officer Elaine Shor, following a formal opening reception for the exhibit on Jan. 10. “We did a show like this years ago and we are very happy to bring it back. It’s a great way to showcase the talents that we have here in Monmouth County.”
The exhibit features work by a wide range of Brookdale faculty members, including professors Ed Stein and Lori Uffer; associate art professor Marie Maber; art instructors Lisa Ficarelli-Halpern, Shaden Mousa and Amy Faris; and learning assistants Sandy and Erik Johanson.
From large oil paintings of jeweled broaches and lush landscapes to gouache paintings, textured drawings and horsehair-fired ceramics, the exhibit is as diverse as is it striking, Maber said.
“The key elements of this show are its variety and its excellence,” Maber said. “The center wall of the gallery was removed for the exhibit, and now it seems so much larger and filled with light. It is a great environment to view the work of so many talented artists.”
The exhibition, featured in the Art Alliance’s gallery at 33 Monmouth Street in Red Bank, will remain open to the public through the end of January. For more information, or to inquire about becoming a member of the Art Alliance of Monmouth County, visit their webpage.
