Former Student Life Board president and 2016 Brookdale graduate Kevin Przystawski officially joined the college’s governing body on Aug. 16 as the Brookdale Board of Trustees’ newest Graduate Trustee.
Przystawski, of Clark, was welcomed to his new post by Board of Trustees Chair Carl Guzzo Jr. and Brookdale President Dr. Maureen Murphy, who helped swear the new trustee into office during the board’s monthly meeting in Lincroft.
“It is a great honor to be sitting up here now,” said Przystawski, who will begin studying at Rutgers University in New Brunswick this fall. “My goal has always been to leave Brookdale a little bit better than how I found it. We have a lot of bright people up here, and we have a lot of work ahead of us. I am grateful, excited and I’m ready to hit the ground running.”
Przystawski, a political science major who was elected by his classmates last spring to serve a one-year term on the board, said he plans to use his knowledge of the school and its students to effect meaningful change in the months ahead.
“When you’re involved on campus, you get different viewpoints from other people who just come to school and go home,” he said. “I have a good idea of what our community members want, and I will be right here on command to do anything I can for them.”
Throughout the 2016-17 school year, Przystawski will serve as a member of the board’s Policy and Education Committee and contribute to its newly formed Middle States reaccreditation committee.
He said he also hopes to be part of an effort to increase public funding for the college.
“I’m just thrilled,” he said. “I really want to make the most of my time on the board.”
Przystawski replaces outgoing graduate trustee Paul Geissler, who completed his term this summer.
