Jersey Shore hospital could keep electricity flowing with microgrid

During superstorm Sandy, Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune had all the power it needed to keep everything up and running during an emergency that blacked out the area.

Now a proposal backed the state Board of Public Utilities would extend that capability to 12 critical facilities nearby, including the Neptune municipal building, including the police department and library; Neptune High School, Gables Elementary School and Neptune Middle School.
