Brookdale Community College President Maureen Murphy resigned to become the next president of a 25,000-student community college in southern Maryland.
College of Southern Maryland announced Murphy’s appointment online Friday morning. College of Southern Maryland Board of Trustees voted Thursday to select Murphy from what started as a pool of 40 applicants.
“This is a bittersweet decision, which I have made for personal reasons,” Murphy said in a statement released by Brookdale. “Brookdale is a fine college with a rich history, and its faculty, staff, and administrators are among the finest I’ve known.”
